The 2nd Annual Made in Elk Grove Business & Technology Expo took place on October 21, 2014, affording a unique opportunity for local and regional manufacturers to network, while showcasing Elk Grove Village's manufacturing muscle.

There was no shortage of parts, prototypes and politicians at this year's Made in Elk Grove Manufacturing & Technology Expo.

With more than 1,000 registered attendees and nearly 100 exhibitors, the event provided a snapshot of the diverse manufacturing capabilities within Elk Grove.

“The Elk Grove Village mission to be 'Beyond Business Friendly' was evident in the production of the Made in Elk Grove Expo," said Mayor Craig B. Johnson. “No other municipality in Illinois manages to attract 1,000 like-minded manufacturing people to their businesses in one day!"

Highlights of the Event

Among the Expo's highlights:

• U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth cut the ribbon to officially open the show floor. She then took time to meet and question the exhibitors.

• Illinois State Sen. Jim Oberweis also made an appearance. He met with exhibitors and chatted about economic prospects for Illinois and the importance of keeping manufacturing domestic.

• New to this year's Expo, the 2014 EGV Business Excellence Awards also honored three Elk Grove businesses.

Exhibitor Feedback

Jim Carr, president/owner of Carr Machine and Tool Inc. and a member of the 2014 Expo Planning Committee, has participated in Made in Elk Grove for the last two years. During this year's event, Carr told an editor from Modern Machine Shop: “My objective in exhibiting was the same this year as last. My plan was to build brand awareness and network with other companies in the region. I was happy with the results and left with some great leads."

Brian O'Reilly, President of QTA Industrial Supplies and Solutions, told the Village: “Participating in the Made in Elk Grove Expo has been very worthwhile for us. Last year we gained 10 new clients as a direct result of exhibiting. This year we've gotten about 10 business leads from attendees and other exhibitors."
